19-year-old is ‘buzzing’ to be part of Liverpool’s Dubai training camp

Liverpool are currently enjoying a rare opportunity to take part in a mid-season training camp, as those not participating in the World Cup prepare for the resumption of club football at the end of the tournament.

In a way of reinforcing the squad, rewarding those who have played well and getting a better look at some players: Jurgen Klopp has invited some youngsters to travel to Dubai with the first team squad and one of them is Jarell Quansah.

Speaking to the club’s website, the 19-year-old shared his joy at being called up: “That’s why you left to be a footballer: it’s to take advantage of these kinds of opportunities, to play with the biggest players.

“It’s just trying to see if you’re at that level and hopefully get past them one day. It is a great opportunity. I found out about two weeks ago, so enough [time] set up. It is a long camp. I talk to my family about it and everyone is excited for me.”

Hearing the young man’s confidence that he is trying to outdo his new peers is great.

With the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Ibou Konate still in Qatar, they may have a chance to shine in games against Lyon and AC Milan this month.

Having impressed with the England Under 19s in the summer, the defender will be out to show the boss that he deserves to be in his long-term thoughts at the heart of the defence.

This rare chance to impress in the middle of a campaign could pay off in terms of playing time at Carabao and the FA Cup in what will be a packed schedule.

Let’s hope the Warrington-born academy hopeful can seize this opportunity and leave a lasting mark on the team.
