10 new photos of Anfield Road End expansion nearly 1 year into build – Liverpool FC

The expansion of Liverpool’s Anfield Road End continues to proceed apace, with the new £80million stand taking shape before our eyes as construction continues throughout the season.

Almost a year has passed since the club began the latest phase of Anfield’s expansion, with an additional 7,000 seats for the 2023/24 season.

The foundations were ready in early 2022 and by July the 300-tonne roof truss was in place, an “amazing moment” when two massive cranes hauled the structure into position over a 12-hour period.

Since then, the construction of the new stand has been witnessed inside the stadium, with work on the upper level and roof providing a view of what is around the corner.

Externally, fans have been able to appreciate the sheer size of the Anfield Road End expansion each match day, soon to blend seamlessly with the main stand, inside and out.

When completed next summer, the expansion will hold 15,967 fans, bringing Anfield’s total capacity to 61,015 and making it the fourth largest stadium in England.

The plan is to remove the roof of the current grandstand during the World Cup in November or next summer.

Almost a year later and less than a year to go, the new booth will be unveiled before we know it.
